The full form of AISSEE is All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination.
This exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Sainik Schools Society, under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
The AISSEE is held every year for admission to Class VI and Class IX in:
- 33 existing Sainik Schools and
- 69 newly approved Sainik Schools operating under the partnership model.
These schools are English-medium residential institutions affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), designed to provide academic excellence with a strong focus on discipline and leadership.

Eligibility Criteria for AISSEE 2026
1. For Admission to Class VI
- Age: The student must be between 10 and 12 years as on 31 March 2026.
(Born between 01 April 2014 and 31 March 2016, both days inclusive) - Gender: Boys and girls are both eligible.
- Educational Qualification: Must be studying in Class V at the time of application.
2. For Admission to Class IX
- Age: The student must be between 13 and 15 years as on 31 March 2026.
(Born between 01 April 2011 and 31 March 2013) - Gender: Admission for girls is open, subject to availability of seats.
- Educational Qualification: Must have passed Class VIII from a recognized school.

Admission Process – AISSEE 2026
Admission to Sainik Schools is done through three main stages:
1. Written Examination (AISSEE 2026)
- Conducted by NTA in January 2026.
- The exam tests the student’s knowledge, aptitude and reasoning ability.
2. Medical Examination
- Candidates shortlisted through the merit list undergo a medical fitness test conducted by authorized military medical authorities.
3. Final Selection
- The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in AISSEE, medical fitness and document verification.
- Admission is finalized through an e-counselling system.

AISSEE 2026 Medium of Examination
- Class VI: Available in 13 languages – English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odiya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu.
- Class IX: Conducted only in English.
AISSEE Syllabus 2026
The AISSEE syllabus is prescribed by the Sainik Schools Society (SSS).
The questions are based on the NCERT curriculum of the previous class.

Reservation Policy in Sainik Schools
As per the official notification:
- 67% seats are reserved for candidates from the Home State/UT.
- 33% seats are reserved for Other States/UTs.
- Within each category:
- 15% for SC
- 7.5% for ST
- 27% for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)
- 25% of the remaining seats are for wards of Defence personnel and ex-servicemen.
Additionally, 10% of total Class VI seats (or 10 seats, whichever is higher) are reserved for girls.
NTA AISSEE 2026 – Steps to Apply
Follow these steps carefully to fill out the online form:
- Visit the official website – https://exams.nta.nic.in/sainik-school-society/
- Register using a valid email ID and mobile number.
- Fill in details like personal information, school choice and exam city preferences.
- Upload required documents:
- Passport-size photograph
- Signature
- Thumb impression
- Date of Birth certificate
- Domicile and category certificate (if applicable)
- Pay the exam fee online via Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
- Download the confirmation page after successful submission.
Candidates should keep a copy of the confirmation page and payment proof for future use.
AISSEE Admit Card 2026
- The AISSEE 2026 admit card will be released on the NTA website a few weeks before the exam.
- Students must carry the admit card along with a valid photo ID to the exam center.
- No entry will be allowed without it.
AISSEE Result 2026
The AISSEE 2026 result will be declared within 6 weeks of the examination.
It will include:
- Candidate’s Name
- Roll Number
- Category
- Marks obtained
- Rank
- Qualifying status
The result will be available online on the NTA website and shortlisted candidates will be called for medical fitness and counselling.
