Bihar Police Enforcement SI Recruitment 2025 – Selection Process (Advt. No. 03/2025)
The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released Advertisement No. 03/2025 for the recruitment of Sub Inspector. A total of 33 vacancies are available under this recruitment. The selection will be done through a competitive examination process, followed by physical fitness tests and document verification. Here is the complete selection process explained step-by-step.
1. Stages of Selection Process
The recruitment process consists of the following steps:
- Preliminary Written Examination
- Main Written Examination
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
- Medical Examination (if needed)
- Document Verification and Final Merit List
2. Preliminary Written Examination
- Total Marks: 200
- Total Questions: 100 (Objective Type)
- Time Duration: 2 hours
- Subjects Covered: General Knowledge and Current Affairs
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: 30% (candidates scoring below this will be disqualified)
- Marking: Negative marking of 0.2 for each wrong answer
Only the top 20 times the number of category-wise vacancies will be shortlisted based on their scores.
3. Main Written Examination
The main exam will have two papers:
Paper 1: General Hindi
- Total Marks: 200
- Questions: 100
- Duration: 2 hours
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: 30% (only qualifying, not included in merit)
Paper 2: General Studies, General Science, Civics, History, Geography, Maths, Mental Ability
- Total Marks: 200
- Questions: 100
- Duration: 2 hours
- Negative Marking: 0.2 marks for each wrong answer in both papers
- Final merit will be based only on Paper 2 marks
4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
Candidates who qualify the main exam will undergo PET. It will include:
(A) Height:
- Male (UR/BC/EBC): Minimum 165 cm
- Female (All categories): Minimum 150 cm
(B) Chest (for Males only):
- Unexpanded: Minimum 79 cm
- Expanded: Minimum 84 cm
- Minimum 5 cm expansion is mandatory
(C) Physical Test Activities:
- Male: Run 1 mile in 6 minutes (25 marks)
- Female: Run 1/2 mile in 4 minutes (14 marks)
Candidates failing PET will be disqualified.
5. Medical Fitness
Only candidates who pass the PET will be invited for a medical checkup as per Rule 15 of Bihar Police (Non-Gazetted Rank) Service Rule 2003.
6. Interview (Personality Test)
Eligible candidates will attend an interview worth 30 marks. Marks obtained in this round will be added to Paper 2 marks for final merit.
The interview assesses:
- Knowledge of subject
- Awareness of current events
- Mental and physical suitability for service
- Communication and personality traits
7. Final Merit List & Tie-Breaking
- The final merit list is prepared based on Paper 2 + Interview marks
