The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has released the recruitment notification for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil, Mechanical and Electrical) in various departments of the Bihar state government. A total of 1024 vacancies have been announced across different engineering streams. The selection for BPSC Assistant Engineer 2025 is based on two key components:
- Written Competitive Examination (Objective Type)

📝 Stage 1: Written Examination (Objective Type)
The written test includes six papers, out of which four are compulsory and two are optional (depending on the engineering discipline).

✅ Minimum Qualifying Marks
As per BPSC rules, you must score the following minimum marks to qualify:

🎯 Stage 2: Preference Marks for Contractual Engineers

- Maximum bonus marks: 25

Total bonus = (No. of full years × 5) + proportionate marks for partial years
Experience must be proven with salary payment certificates issued by the controlling officer.
🏆 Final Merit List
The final merit list is prepared based on:
- Marks obtained in the written examination (weighted 75%)
- Marks for contractual experience (weighted 25%)
- In case of a tie:
- Higher written exam marks will be preferred
- If still tied, older candidate gets preference
- If age is also equal, candidate with earlier name alphabetically (Devanagari script) gets priority
