Date of Birth filled by the candidate in the BSF Sports Quota online application form and the same recorded in the Matriculation or equivalent/ Birth certificate will be accepted by the Border Security Force (BSF) for determining the age and no subsequent request for change will be considered or granted. BSF Sports Quota Selection Process 2025 |
The selection process for BSF Constable (General Duty) under Sports Quota 2025 is clearly defined in the official notification. The entire recruitment is merit based and there is no written examination. Selection depends on sports achievements, document verification, physical standards, and medical fitness.
Below is the 100% accurate and step by step selection process exactly as mentioned in the notification.
Stage 1: Scrutiny of Online Application
All online applications along with uploaded certificates are scrutinized by BSF.
Only candidates who:
- Fulfil age, education, and sports eligibility
- Secure minimum 12 marks in sports qualification as per the marking table
will be shortlisted.
Eligible candidates are issued online admit cards to appear for the recruitment stages.
Stage 2: Documentation (Document Verification)
Candidates reporting at the recruitment venue must undergo document verification.
During this stage:
- Biometric verification including identity capture is done
- Original certificates of age, education, caste, domicile, and sports achievements are verified
- Uploaded documents are cross checked with originals
- Candidates must submit self attested copies after verification
Important points:
- Sports certificates must be exactly as prescribed in the notification
- OBC NCL certificates must be issued within one year
- Government employees must submit NOC
- Candidates failing to produce required documents are rejected immediately
Only candidates who clear documentation are allowed to appear for PST.
Stage 3: Physical Standard Test (PST)
Candidates who qualify documentation undergo PST as per prescribed standards.
PST includes:
- Height measurement
- Chest measurement for male candidates
- Verification of relaxation certificates if applicable
Key rules:
- Female candidates submit pregnancy declaration before PST
- Pregnant female candidates are declared temporarily unfit and examined later
- Candidates not meeting physical standards are eliminated
There is no Physical Efficiency Test (PET) in this recruitment.
Stage 4: Preparation of Merit List
After Documentation and PST, a merit list is prepared.
Merit list is based on:
- Marks awarded for highest sports achievement during the last two years
- Marks are calculated strictly as per the sports marking table given in the notification
Important rules:
- Only one highest medal or participation is considered
- Multiple medals in same competition are not counted separately
- Marks below minimum qualifying level lead to rejection
Tie Breaking Rules in Merit List
If two or more candidates score equal marks, tie is resolved in the following order:
- Candidate with higher marks placed higher
- International level achievement preferred over national
- Higher level national competition given preference
- Younger candidate placed higher
- Alphabetical order of name in English if tie still exists
Stage 5: Detailed Medical Examination (DME)
Candidates shortlisted in the merit list are called for Detailed Medical Examination.
Medical examination is conducted as per:
- Revised medical guidelines issued by Ministry of Home Affairs
Medical standards include:
- Vision test
- Color vision test
- General physical and mental fitness
- No major deformities or disqualifying medical conditions
Candidates declared medically unfit are rejected at this stage.
Stage 6: Review Medical Examination (RME)
Candidates declared unfit in DME can appeal for RME.
Conditions for appeal:
- Appeal must be submitted within 24 hours
- Medical Fitness Certificate from Government Hospital required
- Prescribed fee must be paid
- Only one RME is allowed
Decision of BSF Medical Board is final.
Final Selection and Appointment
Final selection is done after:
- Clearing Documentation
- Qualifying PST
- Ranking in Merit List
- Being declared medically fit
Selected candidates:
- Are appointed as Constable (GD) under Sports Quota
- Undergo basic training and further courses as prescribed by BSF
- Are governed by BSF Act 1968 and BSF Rules 1969
