CBIC Sports Quota Age Limit |
Date of Birth filled by the candidate in the CBIC Sports Quota online application form and the same recorded in the Matriculation/ Higher Examination Certificate will be accepted by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes (CBIC) for determining the age and no subsequent request for change will be considered or granted. The age limit for CBIC Sports Quota is;

CBIC Sports Quota Recruitment Eligibility Criteria |
Educational Qualification
Tax Assistant
- Degrees from the recognized University or equivalent.
- Should have basic knowledge in the use of computer applications.
- Should possess a data entry speed of not less than 8000 key depressions per hour.
Havaldar
- Matriculation or equivalent from any recognized Board.
Sports Eligibility
For recruitment against Sports Quota in Government departments (like CGST, Central Excise and Customs), only meritorious sportspersons are eligible. The eligibility is based on their achievements in recognized sports events within the last six years (2020 to 2025).
Period of Performance
- Achievements between 2020 and 2025 will be considered.
- Only the best three performances during this period will be evaluated.
Recognized Competitions
The proficiency of candidates will be evaluated based on participation and performance in these levels (order of preference):
International Competitions
- Represented India in international tournaments with approval of the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.
National Competitions
- Represented State/UT at Senior or Junior level National Championships organized by recognized National Sports Federations or National Games by the Indian Olympic Association.
- Preference goes to winners (up to 3rd place).
- Senior level medalists are ranked higher than junior level.
Inter-University Competitions
- Represented University in Inter-University tournaments conducted by Association of Indian Universities or Khelo India University Games and won up to 3rd place.
Khelo India Games
- Represented State/UT in Khelo India Youth Games (18+), Khelo India Winter Games or Khelo India Para Games and won up to 3rd place.
School Games
- Represented State Schools in National School Games conducted by All India School Games Federation and won up to 3rd place.
Participation without medal
- Even if no medal was won, participation in the above levels is still considered, but in the same order of preference.
Tie-Breaking Rules
If two candidates tie, preference goes to:
- Higher position in tournaments
- More medals won
- Senior-level achievements over junior-level
List of Accepted Sports
Recruitment is open in 65 sports disciplines, including Athletics, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Kabaddi, Swimming, Wrestling, Weightlifting, Chess, Gymnastics, Shooting, Volleyball, Judo, Taekwondo, Tennis, Table Tennis and more.
Certificates Required
Candidates must provide sports certificates issued only by authorized bodies in prescribed formats:
- Form 1 – For International Competitions (signed by National Federation Secretary)
- Form 2 – For National Competitions (State/National Federation)
- Form 3 – For Inter-University Competitions (Dean/Director of Sports)
- Form 4 – For National School Games (Director of Education/Sports)
- Form 5 – For Khelo India Games (Sports Authority of India officer)

CBIC Sports Quota Recruitment Selection Process |
Recruitment under the Sports Quota 2025 will be done purely on the basis of sports achievements and field trials, followed by document verification. There is no written exam for this quota.
Stages of Selection
1. Scrutiny of Applications
- All applications are first checked to confirm whether the candidate fulfills the sports eligibility criteria (recognized tournaments from 2020–2025).
- Only those with valid sports certificates in prescribed forms will be shortlisted.
2. Evaluation of Sports Achievements
- Candidates are given marks based on their performance and level of sports representation.
- Higher weightage is given to international representation and medal winners at national or university level.
- Best three sports performances from 2020–2025 are considered.
3. Field Trials
Shortlisted candidates will be called for sports trials to test actual playing skills, fitness, and suitability. Marks will be awarded for:
- Sports skill
- Game performance
- Physical fitness
- Potential to represent the department in future tournaments
4. Document Verification
- After the trial, candidates must produce original certificates for verification.
- Certificates must be issued by authorized sports bodies only (National Federations, AIU, SAI, SGFI etc.).
- Any false claim will lead to disqualification.
5. Final Merit List
Final selection will be based on total marks from sports achievements + trial performance. In case of a tie, preference is given to:
- Higher tournament level (International over National)
- Medal winners
- Senior-level over junior-level performance
Points
- Selection is strictly on merit in sports, not academics.
- Candidates must be medically fit for service.
- Final appointment is subject to character verification and fulfilling government service conditions.

General Conditions & Instructions |
Candidates must clearly subscribe the word, “Application for Sports Quota Recruitment 2025 CATEGORY____” on the top of the envelope while sending the CBIC Sports Quota application form.
- The application should be filled up in Block Letters in English using ballpoint pen preferably in Black ink.
- Fill all the columns of the application yourself, In plain and Capital letters.
- No cutting or over harvesting in the CBIC Sports Quota application form.
- Incomplete, incorrect, wrongly filled, over writing, without signature, without photograph CBIC Sports Quota application will be rejected.
