Application Fees

Coast Guard Navik Age Limit

Date of Birth filled by the candidate in the Coast Guard Navik GD online application form and the same recorded in the Matriculation/ Higher Examination Certificate will be accepted by the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) for determining the age and no subsequent request for change will be considered or granted. The age limit for Coast Guard Navik is;

Coast Guard Navik GD Eligibility Criteria

Navik (General Duty)

  • Should have 10+2 passed with Math’s and Physics from an education board recognized by Council of Boards for School Education (COBSE).

Coast Guard Navik Selection Process

The Indian Coast Guard is a multi-mission organization that is responsible for safeguarding the country’s maritime interests. The Indian Coast Guard offers opportunities for young and dynamic individuals to serve the nation as Navik (General Duty/ Domestic Branch). In this article, we will discuss the complete selection process for becoming a Navik (GD/DB) in the Indian Coast Guard.

The candidates will be required to bring following documents for verification while reporting at their respective Coast Guard Navik examination center: –

  • Valid original Identity proof as submitted/uploaded in the online application. (Aadhaar Card /Driving License /Passport /PAN Card /Voter ID card)
  • A Colored printout of E-admit card (black & white print out not allowed).
  • Two passport size colour photograph with similar facial features as uploaded in the online application.

For SC/ ST Candidates Only:

  • Original Caste Certificate and 02 photocopy of self-attested SC/ST certificate.
  • Cancelled cheque leaf for NEFT payment.
  • Original train/bus ticket.
  • Travel form downloaded from website for claiming TA.

Coast Guard Navik Written Exam

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and submit the required documents will be called for a written examination. The written examination is conducted to test the candidate’s knowledge of mathematics, general knowledge, science, reasoning, and English. The written examination is of objective type and is conducted at various centres across the country. The details of various section of written exam are as follows: –

Coast Guard Navik & Yantrik Written Exam

Examination City

The candidate is to give five preferences for examination city in the application for Coast Guard Navik Stage-I & II process. Candidates are to fill first choice within 30 Kms from the present/ communication residence. If no “examination city” is within 30 Km from the current address, then the nearest “exam city” from current address has to be the first choice of the candidate.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

Candidates who pass the written examination will be called for a Physical Fitness Test (PFT). The PFT is designed to test the candidate’s physical fitness and endurance. The PFT includes the following events:

  • 1.6 Km Run to be Completed in 7 Minutes
  • 20 Squat-Ups (Uthak Baithak)
  • 10 Push-Ups

Medical Exam

Candidates who pass the PFT will be subjected to a medical examination to assess their fitness for coastal defence duties. The medical examination is conducted at designated centres and is conducted by authorized civilian doctors.

Chest Minimum expansion 5 cms
Weight Proportionate to height and age +10 percentage acceptable.
Hearing Normal
Tattoo Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body.

Coast Guard Navik Merit List

A merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the written examination. Candidates will be selected for training based on this merit list.

Training

Selected candidates will undergo training at the Indian Coast Guard Training Centres. The training will include both theoretical and practical sessions. The training is designed to prepare the candidates for their duties as a Navik (GD/DB) in the Indian Coast Guard.

The basic training for Navik (General Duty) and Navik (Domestic Branch) will commence tentatively in Early/Mid Sep 23 at INS Chilka followed by sea training and professional training in the allotted trade. Branch/trade will be allocated as per the requirement of service and performance during basic training.

The selection process for becoming a Navik (GD/DB) in the Indian Coast Guard is rigorous and designed to test the candidate’s physical fitness, knowledge, and endurance. The selection process includes a written exam, Physical Fitness Test, and a medical examination. Candidates who pass the selection process will undergo training and will be inducted as Navik (GD/DB) in the Indian Coast Guard.

Required Documents for Apply Online

When filling out the online application, all candidates are required to upload the following documents:

A recent passport-sized color photograph (taken within the last three months from the date of application opening). The photograph should be a front-facing portrait with a light background, and the candidate should not be wearing any headgear except for Sikhs.

The photograph should be taken with the candidate holding a black slate in front of their chest, on which their name and the date of the photograph should be clearly written in capital letters with white chalk.

The candidate should not be wearing a cap or spectacles, and both ears should be visible in the photograph. Failure to upload the correct photograph will result in the cancellation of the candidate’s candidature.

  1. A scanned image of the candidate’s signature.
  2. A scanned image of the clear left-hand thumb impression.
  3. Proof of date of birth, which can be either a birth certificate or a Class 10th marksheet in Hindi or English only.
  4. Proof of identity, which can be either an Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID card, Driving License, or Passport.
  5. If the candidate is currently serving in the Indian Coast Guard Personnel or as a civilian employee, they must also upload a service certificate or a No Objection Certificate (NOC).

Optional Documents

  • Sports Certificate as per proficiency/achievement with respect to selected game.
  • Death Certificate of deceased Coast Guard personnel (if the candidate is ward of CG personnel) whose death is attributable / not attributable to service, if applicable.
