The important dates related to HPPSC Police Constable recruitment have been provided in the table below.

After ensuring the correctness of the details in the HP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 application form, candidates are required to pay the Constable application fee through the payment gateway on the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) website integrated with the online application. Online fee payment through Net Banking or debit / credit card will be available upto 21 August 2026 at 23.59 hrs.

The HPPSC Police Constable Notification 2026 fee payment can be made by using Debit card, Credit card and Net Banking etc by providing information as per the instructions on the your computer screen.

The selection process consists of the following stages:

Stage 1: HP Police Constable Physical Test (PST & PET)

The Himachal Pradesh Police Department will conduct the Physical Test, which consists of the Physical Standard Test (PST) and the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Candidates must qualify both stages to become eligible for the written examination. The Police Department will forward the list of qualified candidates along with the height marks obtained in the PST to the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC).

A. Physical Standard Test (PST)

During the PST, all physical measurements will be taken by a Medical Officer according to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Director General of Police (DGP). Candidates who do not meet the prescribed physical standards will be declared unfit.

B. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

The PET is qualifying in nature only. No marks are awarded for PET. Candidates must qualify every event. Failure in any one event will result in immediate disqualification, and the candidate will not be allowed to participate in the remaining events.

Stage 2: HP Police Constable Written Examination

Candidates who qualify the Physical Test will appear in an offline Objective Type Written Examination conducted by HPPSC.

Written Exam Details

Candidates who do not wish to answer a question must mark Option “E”. Leaving any question blank without marking Option “E” will also attract negative marking.

Stage 3: Evaluation & Document Verification

Based on the written examination marks and height marks, HPPSC will prepare a category-wise Zone of Consideration.

The Himachal Pradesh Police Department will then:

• Verify all original documents.
• Check eligibility claimed in the application.
• Award NCC marks as per the recruitment rules.

NCC Marks

If a candidate possesses more than one NCC certificate, only the highest applicable marks (NCC ‘C’) will be awarded.

Stage 4: Medical Examination

Candidates recommended by HPPSC after document verification will undergo a Medical Examination, which will be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Police Department. Only medically fit candidates will proceed further.

Stage 5: Final Merit List/ Result

The final merit list will be prepared out of 100 marks as follows:

Candidates securing zero or negative marks in the written examination will not be included in the final merit list.

If two or more candidates secure equal total marks, merit will be decided in the following order:

1. Candidate securing higher marks in the Written Examination.
2. If still tied, the older candidate (higher age) will be ranked higher.
3. If age is also the same, the candidate securing higher marks in the essential qualification (+2) will be placed higher.

Stage 6: Character Verification, Appointment & Training

Candidates included in the final merit list will be appointed only after:

• Medical fitness.
• Verification of character and antecedents.

Selected candidates must undergo the Recruitment Training Course (RTC). On successful completion of the training, they will be appointed as Constables. Failure to pass the RTC may result in termination of service. Confirmation in service will be granted only after successful completion of the RTC and a 2-year probation period (including the training period).

HP Police Constable Recruitment 2026 Online Registration and Submission process will be terminated by 21 August 2026 at 23.59 hrs. Candidature of such applicants who fail to complete online submission of HPPSC Police Constable application form by stipulated date and time will not be considered and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
