The important dates related to IBPS SO recruitment have been provided in the table below.

After ensuring the correctness of the details in the IBPS SO application form, candidates are required to pay the Specialist Officers (SO) application fee through the payment gateway on the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) website integrated with the online application. Online fee payment through Net Banking or debit / credit card will be available upto 26 July 2026 at 23.55 hrs.

The IBPS Specialist Officer Recruitment 2026 fee payment can be made by using Debit card, Credit card and Net Banking etc by providing information as per the instructions on the your computer screen.

Note: The Processing fee will be refunded only to candidates who appear in the Written Test/ CBT

The IBPS Specialist Officer (SO) Recruitment 2026 Selection Process is conducted in multiple stages to select the most suitable candidates for various Scale-I Specialist Officer posts such as IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, Law Officer, HR/Personnel Officer, Marketing Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari. Candidates must successfully qualify each stage to move to the next phase of the recruitment process.

Stage 1: Online Preliminary Examination

The first stage of the recruitment process is the Online Preliminary Examination. This examination is qualifying in nature and is conducted separately for different Specialist Officer posts.

For IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer, the preliminary exam includes:

Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks in each section. Based on the cut-off decided by IBPS and the number of vacancies, shortlisted candidates are called for the Main Examination.

Stage 2: Online Main Examination

Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Online Main Examination.

For IT Officer, Agricultural Field Officer, HR/Personnel Officer and Marketing Officer, the Main Examination consists of:

• Professional Knowledge (Objective)
• Descriptive Paper (English)

For Rajbhasha Adhikari, the Main Examination includes:

• Professional Knowledge Descriptive Paper (Hindi/English)

A very important point is that only the Professional Knowledge paper is considered for preparing the merit list. All other objective papers are qualifying in nature. Therefore candidates should focus primarily on scoring high marks in the Professional Knowledge section.

Negative Marking

Both the Preliminary and Main Examination include negative marking.

• 0.25 marks (one-fourth of the marks assigned to the question) are deducted for every incorrect answer.
• No marks are deducted for unanswered questions.

Stage 3: Interview

Candidates who obtain the required cut-off in the Main Examination are shortlisted for the Interview conducted by the Participating Banks with coordination by the Nodal Banks.

Important details of the Interview are:

• Total Marks: 100
• Minimum Qualifying Marks:
  • 40% for General and EWS candidates
  • 35% for SC, ST, OBC and PwBD candidates
• Interview call letters are released online through the IBPS website.
• Candidates must produce all original educational, identity, category and other required documents during document verification and interview. Failure to submit valid documents can result in cancellation of candidature.

Final Merit List

The final selection is prepared using the combined performance in the Main Examination and Interview.

The weightage is:

• Online Main Examination: 80%
• Interview: 20%

Only candidates who qualify both stages and secure high combined scores are included in the final merit list. The normalized scores of the Main Examination and Interview are used to prepare the final ranking.

Provisional Allotment

Candidates selected in the final merit list are provisionally allotted to one of the participating public sector banks based on:

• Final merit
• Bank preference filled during application
• Category-wise reservation rules
• Availability of vacancies
• Administrative requirements of participating banks

The provisional allotment does not guarantee immediate appointment. The allotted bank carries out final document verification, eligibility verification and other joining formalities before issuing the appointment letter. Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India or abroad according to the requirements of the participating bank.

IBPS Specialist Officer Recruitment 2026 Online Registration and Submission process will be terminated by 26 July 2026 at 23.55 hrs. Candidature of such applicants who fail to complete online submission of IBPS SO application form by stipulated date and time will not be considered and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
