Indian Navy Sports Quota Age Limit |
Date of Birth filled by the candidate in the Indian Navy Sports Quota online application form and the same recorded in the Matriculation/ Higher Examination Certificate will be accepted by the Indian Navy (Bhartiya Nausena) for determining the age and no subsequent request for change will be considered or granted. The age limit for Indian Navy Sports Quota  is;

Indian Navy Sports Quota Eligibility Criteria |
Educational Qualification
Passed 10+2 (Intermediate) in any stream from a recognized board.
Sports Qualifications
Candidates must meet specific performance standards in recognized competitions. The criteria differ based on the rank applied for:
A. Direct Entry Petty Officer (Sports Entry)
Applicants must meet any one of the following:
- Medalist at Junior or Senior National Level, representing their State in an individual event
- Participation at National or International level, representing State or Country in a team event
- Medalist in Khelo India Youth Games or any event of higher level
- Applications must be accompanied by a certificate and recommendation from the respective sports federation/authority
B. Direct Entry Chief Petty Officer (Sports Entry)
Applicants must fulfill any one of these high-level achievements:
Won a medal in:
- World Championship
- Asian Championship
- Commonwealth Games
- World Cup
Represented India in:
- Olympics
- Twice in Commonwealth Games, Asian Games or World Cup
⛳ Note: For Shooting, only top 50 athletes in Olympic events (as per latest National Ranking) are eligible
🛶 For Sailing, only medalists in ILCA7, ILCA6, 49er, and 49erFX boat classes in International or Senior Nationals are eligible

Athletics, Aquatics, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Equestrian, Football, Artistic Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Squash, Golf, Tennis, Kayaking & Canoeing, Rowing, Shooting, Sailing
For Female Candidates:
Athletics, Aquatics, Boxing, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Kayaking & Canoeing, Rowing, Shooting, Sailing

Sports Trials (Skill Assessment)
All shortlisted candidates must appear for sports trials at designated Naval Centres.
đź“Ś Trial Venue:
-
Conducted at officially assigned Naval Centres only (no change of venue is allowed).
⚠️ Important:
- Final selection will depend on performance in the trial
- Also based on vacancy availability in each sport
Medical Examination
Candidates who clear the sports trials will undergo a medical examination at:
- INS Hamla, Mumbai OR
- INS India, New Delhi
âś… Medical standards include:
- Height: 157 cm (male), 152 cm (female)
- Vision: 6/6 (with glasses), 6/12 (without glasses)
- Physically and mentally fit
- No disability or disease
- Females must not be pregnant at the time of reporting or during training
- No history of gender reassignment surgery
Appeal for Medical Review (If Unfit)
- Temporarily unfit candidates can request a specialist review from a military hospital within 21 days.
- Permanently unfit candidates may appeal with â‚ą40 Military Receivable Order (MRO), but no further review is allowed after that.
Final Merit List & Selection
The final selection list is prepared from candidates who:
- Qualify the sports trials
- Are medically fit
- Meet the eligibility criteria
- Vacancies will be filled as per sports discipline requirement
Only the candidates whose names are in the select list will receive an offer of enrolment.
Police Verification Form
- Selected candidates will receive a Police Verification Form with their offer letter.
- This form must be signed and verified by the local police.
- Without police verification, enrolment will not be allowed.
Final Enrolment
Once all documents are verified and the candidate is found fit:
- They will be enrolled into the Navy
- Will begin initial training at INS Chilka
- Followed by professional training based on assigned trade
đźš« Disqualification Rules
Candidates can be disqualified at any stage if:
- They submit more than one application
- Their documents are found to be fake
- Their medical status changes (e.g. pregnancy or medical unfitness)
- They don’t submit police verification
- They fail to meet probation targets after joining
⏳ Probation Period
All selected candidates will be on a probation of 3 years. During this time:
Petty Officer:

Must perform well enough to represent the Services Team at National Championships
Chief Petty Officer:
- Must represent the Services Team at least twice in 3 years
OR - Win any medal in a National Championship within 3 years
Failure to do so can lead to discharge from service.

Application received after the last date (17 June 2025) or applications incomplete in any respect will not be considered.

- Educational, Professional and/ or Sports qualification certificates.
- Caste Certificate, if candidate belong to reserved category.
- Domicile Certificate & Residential Certificate.
- Copy of Birth Certificate/ Age Proof.
- Copy Aadhaar Card/ Other Identity Card.
- Experience certificate, if any.
- A passport size photograph with their name and signature on the reverse of the photograph0
- Attach other necessary documents with the application form.
General Conditions & Instructions |
The type of entry, sports discipline with achievements is to be clearly written on top of the envelope containing the application. Envelopes should be of brown colour. Example: Direct Entry Petty Officer/ Chief Petty Officer – 02/2025 KABBADI – NATIONAL LEVEL
- Fill all the columns of the application yourself, In plain and Capital letters.
- The application can be filled by the candidates either in English or Hindi.
- The date of written test / skill test will be intimated to eligible candidates separately.
- No cutting or over harvesting in the Indian Navy Sports Quota application form.
- Incomplete, incorrect, wrongly filled, over writing, without signature, without photograph Indian Navy Sports Quota application will be rejected.
- This Indian Navy (Bhartiya Nausena) office shall not be responsible for any kind of postal delay.
- The candidates must write their name, date of birth, father’s name and mother’s name strictly as given in the matriculation certificate otherwise their candidature be cancelled as and when it comes into the notice of the Indian Navy (Bhartiya Nausena).
