The selection process for Constable (Executive) in J&K Police is conducted by JKSSB in multiple stages. Candidates must qualify each stage to move to the next one. The complete process is explained below as per the official notification .

Stage 1: Written Examination

The first stage is an objective type written test.

• Mode: Offline or OMR based
• Language: English only
• Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions
• Negative Marking: Yes
  • One fourth mark is deducted for each wrong answer

Bonus Marks for NCC Certificate

• NCC C Certificate: 5 percent of maximum marks
• NCC B Certificate: 3 percent of maximum marks
• NCC A Certificate: 2 percent of maximum marks

Marks obtained in the written test are used to prepare the merit list for the next stage.

Stage 2: Physical Standard Test (PST)

Candidates are shortlisted for PST based on written exam merit.
Shortlisting ratio is six times the number of vacancies category wise.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates

• Height: 5 feet 6 inches
• Chest: 32 inches unexpanded
• Chest: 33.5 inches expanded

For Female Candidates

• Height: 5 feet 2 inches

Height relaxation of 2 inches is applicable for Gorkha Community and Bot Tribe candidates.

PST is qualifying in nature.

Stage 3: Physical Endurance Test (PET)

Candidates who qualify PST appear for PET.

For Male Candidates

• 1600 meters race in 6 minutes 30 seconds
• 20 push ups

For Female Candidates

• 1000 meters race in 6 minutes 30 seconds
• Shot put 4 kg to 14.5 feet in three attempts

PET Relaxation for Ex Servicemen

Relaxed standards are applicable based on age slabs as mentioned in the notification.

PET is also qualifying only.

Stage 4: Medical Examination

Candidates selected as per vacancies are sent for medical examination.
Medical fitness is mandatory for final appointment.

Stage 5: Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates must appear for document verification.

Final Selection

• Final merit is based on written examination marks only
