NCL Technician Recruitment Eligibility Details |
Technician Fitter (Trainee) Cat. III
- Matriculate or equivalent examination passed from any recognized Board of examination;
- ITI 2 year course in Fitter Trade along with Trade certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.
- Minimum 1 year Apprenticeship Training Certificate.
Technician Electrician (Trainee) Cat. III
- Matriculate or equivalent examination passed from any recognized Board of examination;
- ITI (2 years course) in Electrician Trade along with Trade certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT
- Minimum 1 year Apprenticeship Training Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.
Technician Welder (Trainee) Cat. II
- Matriculate or equivalent examination passed from any recognized Board of examination.
- ITI in Welder Trade along with Trade certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT .
- Minimum 1 year Apprenticeship Training Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.

Computer Based Test (CBT)
All eligible applicants will be called for a Computer Based Test. This is the first and most crucial stage. Your relative score in this test will determine whether you qualify for further stages.
📋 CBT Pattern:
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Total Marks: 100
- Sections: Two (A & B)
- Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
- Negative Marking: None

🗣️ Language: Bilingual – English & Hindi. In case of error in Hindi, the English version will be considered final.
Cut-Off Marks (Minimum Qualifying Marks)
To move ahead in the process, candidates must score above the category-wise minimum cut-off:

Only those who score equal to or more than the cut-off will be shortlisted for the next phase.
Tie-Breaker Rules (If Candidates Score Same Marks)
If two or more candidates score the same marks, tie-breaking will follow:
- Higher marks in Section A (Technical)
- Older date of birth (senior in age)
- Alphabetical order of names
Document Verification
Candidates who pass the CBT will be called for document scrutiny and verification. This step is crucial to validate eligibility claims made during the online application.
📍 Note: If you fail to produce valid documents or don’t report at the given time, your candidature will be cancelled.
Merit Panel and Final Selection
📑 Separate Merit Lists:
NCL will prepare separate provisional merit lists for:
- Excavation Cadre (Excv.)
- Electrical & Mechanical (E&M) Cadre
Since qualifications for both cadres are the same, your application is valid for both. The order of preference will depend on the merit position within each category (UR, SC, ST, OBC-NCL, EWS).

- CBT is the only scoring component in the selection process.
- The exam city preference once submitted cannot be changed.
- Test cities may be changed by NCL based on applications received.
- Result and further notifications will be published on the official NCL website.
📢 Final Appointment
After scrutiny and final merit list preparation, provisional appointment letters will be issued to successful candidates based on:

🚫 Cancellation of Candidature
