Field Engineer (Electrical) — Post ID 487
- Essential qualification: Full time B.E. or B.Tech or B.Sc (Engg.) in Electrical discipline or equivalent from a recognized university or institute with minimum 55% marks.
- Discipline equivalence: Electrical, Electrical (Power), Electrical and Electronics, Power Systems Engineering, Power Engineering (Electrical).
- Post qualification experience: Minimum one year experience in design engineering construction testing & commissioning etc. in Rural Electrification RE, Distribution Management System DMS, Sub Transmission ST, Transmission Lines TLs or Sub-Stations S/S.
- Preference: Experience in PSU or listed company in power sector preferred.
Field Engineer (Civil) — Post ID 488

PGCIL Field Engineer & Supervisor Selection Process 2025 |
1. Register and check eligibility
- Apply only through POWERGRID Online Registration System. Submit one application per post.
- You must meet all eligibility criteria including one year post qualification experience as on closing date.
2. Common FTE written test (single day PAN India)
- Test duration: 1 hour. Extra time for PwBD as per Govt rules.
- Sections and number of questions: Technical knowledge 50 questions, Aptitude 25 questions, Quantitative aptitude and General Awareness 25 questions (total 100).
- All questions are MCQ with 4 options. Each question carries 1 mark. No negative marking.
- Test language: Hindi or English option available. Test centres will be allotted by management.
3. Score card and validity
- After the test you get a written test score card in your candidate login.
- The score is valid for 1 year from the date on the score card. Regions will notify vacancies during that validity.
4. Applying for regional vacancies (consent)
- When a Region notifies vacancies, you must submit consent for those vacancies from your candidate login, provided you meet the post criteria and have a valid score.
5. Shortlisting and next steps — two paths
A. Field Engineer (post specific)
- Candidates who qualify the written test and have given consent will be shortlisted and called for interview by the Region/CC.
- Interview qualifying marks: 40% for unreserved including EWS and 30% for reserved categories.
- Final merit for Field Engineer is based on Interview marks only. Empanelment is done category wise in the ratio 1:5 or as notified. Tie between candidates is resolved by date of birth, eldest first.
B. Field Supervisor (post specific)
- For Field Supervisor posts shortlisting and empanelment are based solely on marks obtained in the written test.
- Empanelment is done category wise in the ratio 1:5 or as notified. Tie resolved by date of birth.
6. Document verification and offer of engagement
- Candidates called for document verification must produce originals and self attested copies of all certificates uploaded during application. If documents do not match claims you will be disqualified.
- After successful verification the Region will issue the Offer of Engagement in order of merit and requirement.
7. Objection management and result process
- A 2 day objection window will be opened after the written test for candidates to raise queries on provisional answer(s). Final key follows after objections.
8. Important rules you must note
- No document verification at test stage. The onus to meet eligibility lies with the candidate.
- Test score can be used only once to get an engagement while it remains valid. If you join a region you cannot use the same score for the same post in other regions during validity.
- Selected personnel join on fixed term contract initially for 24 months or till project completion whichever is earlier. Contract does not create a right to regular employment.
- POWERGRID may change the process, number of vacancies or qualifying standards as needed.

Candidature of such applicants who fail to complete online submission of PGCIL Field Engineer & Supervisor application form by stipulated date and time will not be considered and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
