RSSB Driver Selection Process 2025

The RSSB Driver Selection Process includes multiple stages to evaluate the driving skills, knowledge and physical fitness of candidates. The selection process consists of the following steps:

Written Test

The first stage is a written examination that assesses the candidate’s knowledge of traffic rules, road safety, general awareness and vehicle maintenance.

Written Exam Pattern

• The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
• Questions are based on general knowledge, driving laws, vehicle mechanics and basic mathematics.
• The total marks for the exam are 100.
• The duration of the exam is 90 minutes.
• A minimum qualifying percentage is required to move to the next stage.

Driving Test

Candidates who clear the written test will be called for the driving skill assessment. This test evaluates the practical driving abilities of applicants.

Driving Test Criteria

• Driving on different road conditions (highways, city roads and rural areas).
• Ability to follow traffic signals, road safety guidelines and emergency procedures.
• Smooth handling of the vehicle under different situations.
• Parking, reversing and turning skills.
• Checking vehicle maintenance knowledge.

Document Verification

Candidates who pass the driving test must go through the document verification process.
