Railway Section Controller Selection Process 2025 |
The official CEN notification clearly explains the complete selection process for the Railway Section Controller Recruitment 2025. Below you can read every stage in detail including CBT exam pattern, CBAT, Document Verification, Medical Testand Final Selection.
1. Computer Based Test (CBT) – Exam Pattern
- Duration: 120 minutes
- Total Questions: 100 objective type questions
- Subjects Covered: Analytical ability, Mathematical ability, Logical reasoning, Reading comprehension, Mental ability etc.
- Marking Scheme:
- 1 mark for each correct answer
- Negative marking: ⅓ mark deducted for each wrong answer
- Normalization: Applied if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts
- Qualifying Marks:
- UR/EWS: 40%
- OBC (NCL): 30%
- SC: 30%
- ST: 25%
2. Shortlisting for CBAT
Candidates are shortlisted for the Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) at the rate of 8 times the number of vacancies (by category) on the basis of CBT merit .
3. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Medium: English and Hindi only
- Negative Marking: No negative marking
- Qualifying Rule:
- Candidates must secure a minimum T-Score of 42 in each test battery to qualify
- No relaxation in T-Score is permitted
- Mandatory Document: Vision certificate in prescribed format required for appearing in CBAT
4. Final Merit & Selection
- Weightage:
- CBT: 70%
- CBAT: 30%
- Only those who qualify CBAT are considered for final merit list.
- Tie-Breaking:
- Older candidate ranked higher
- If age same, alphabetical order of names (A-Z) is used
5. Document Verification (DV)
Candidates shortlisted from final merit are called for DV. They must bring:
- Original certificates + 2 self-attested copies
- Certificates required:
- Matriculation/10th pass (for DOB proof)
- Educational qualification certificates
- Caste/Community certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS as applicable)
- PwBD certificate (if applicable)
- Ex-servicemen certificate (if applicable)
- NOC from employer (if employed)
- Photo ID proof & passport size photos
- Failure to produce valid originals may lead to rejection
6. Medical Examination
- Conducted by Railway Medical Authorities
- Candidate must meet prescribed medical standard (A-2 category) for Section Controller
- Failure in medical test disqualifies the candidate, even after clearing CBT, CBAT & DV
7. Final Appointment
- Based on merit + DV + Medical fitness
