📌 Overview of Selection Process
The SBI CBO selection process 2025 includes the following five steps:
- Online Examination (Objective + Descriptive)
- Screening
- Interview
- Local Language Proficiency Test
- Final Merit List
Each phase is equally important and candidates must perform well to move to the next stage.
🖥️ 1. Online Test (Objective + Descriptive)
The online test is the first phase of the selection. It consists of two parts:
🔹 Objective Test
- Total Questions: 120
- Maximum Marks: 120
- Duration: 2 hours
- Section-wise Format:

🔹 Descriptive Test
This test is held immediately after the objective test.
- Time: 30 minutes
- Marks: 50
- Type: English language (Letter Writing and Essay)
- Number of Questions: 2
Candidates must type their answers on the computer.
🔍 2. Screening Process
After the online test, a screening committee will evaluate the candidates who have cleared the exam. This phase is unique to the SBI CBO recruitment.
📄 What Happens in Screening?
- The committee verifies experience, job profile and documents.
- Candidates must have 2 years post-qualification experience as an officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank or RRB.
- Your job responsibilities must closely match that of a SBI Scale-I Generalist Officer.
If the job profile doesn’t match, the application may be rejected, even after passing the online test.
🗣️ 3. Interview
Candidates who pass the online test and are found eligible in screening are invited for a personal interview.
- Total Marks: 50
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: Decided by SBI
- Questions may focus on:
- Banking knowledge
- Current affairs
- Professional experience
- Leadership skills and communication
🌐 4. Local Language Proficiency Test
Since SBI CBOs are recruited Circle-wise, knowledge of the local language is a must.
- Candidates must be able to read, write and understand the local language of the selected circle.
- Those who do not have a 10th/12th certificate showing they studied the language will need to take a language test before final appointment.
❌ If a candidate fails this test, he/she will not be appointed, even after clearing other stages.
🏁 5. Final Selection and Merit List
Final selection is based on combined performance in the online exam and interview.
🔸 Weightage:
- Online Test (Objective + Descriptive): 170 marks, converted to 75
- Interview: 50 marks, converted to 25
- Final Score: out of 100
The final merit list is prepared Circle-wise and Category-wise. Candidates are selected in order of ranking from this list.
