SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2023

Part (i) – General Intelligence & Reasoning:

This section will assess the candidates reasoning abilities, both verbal and non-verbal. It will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision-making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series and more. The test will also evaluate the candidates capacity to handle abstract ideas and symbols, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.

Part (ii) – General Awareness:

This section aims to test the candidates’ knowledge of the world around them and its application to society. Questions will cover current events and topics that an educated person should be familiar with, including matters of everyday observation and scientific aspects. There will be questions related to India and its neighboring countries, focusing on areas like Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution and Scientific Research.

Part (iii) – For VH candidates with 40% and above visual disability:

In the General Intelligence & Reasoning/ General Awareness Paper for visually impaired (VH) candidates with 40% and above visual disability, there will be no components involving Maps, Graphs, Diagrams or Statistical Data.

Part (iv) – English Language & Comprehension:

This section evaluates the candidates’ understanding of the English Language, including vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and correct usage. Additionally, the candidates writing ability will also be tested as part of this section.

SSC Stenographer Skill Test 2023

Once the CBT is completed, the shortlisted candidates will proceed to the Skill Test for Stenography. During this test, candidates will be provided with a dictation for 10 minutes in either English or Hindi (based on their preference as indicated in the online Application Form). The dictation will be at a speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade ‘D’.

After the dictation, the candidates will have to transcribe the dictated matter on a computer. The transcription time for this task is as follows:

SSC Stenographer 2023 On-line Registration and Submission process will be terminated by 23 August 2023 at 23.00 hrs. Candidature of such applicants who fail to complete online submission of SSC Stenographer application form by stipulated date and time will not be considered and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.
