SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2025 |
📝 Selection Process – SSC Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ Exam 2025
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will conduct a two-stage recruitment process to select candidates for the posts of Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group B) and Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group C) in various Government departments across India.
✅ Stage 1: Computer Based Examination (CBE)
This is the first phase of selection and will be conducted online across various exam centres.
📊 Exam Pattern:

✅ Stage 2: Skill Test in Stenography
Only candidates who qualify the CBE will be shortlisted for the Stenography Skill Test. This test is qualifying in nature and mandatory.
💬 Skill Test Pattern:
Candidates must dictate a passage for 10 minutes at:
- 100 wpm for Grade ‘C’
- 80 wpm for Grade ‘D’

📌 Note: Candidates opting for Hindi must learn English stenography and vice versa after appointment if required.
✅ Stage 3: Document Verification (DV)
After the Skill Test, candidates will be called for document verification by the respective user departments. At this stage, all eligibility documents like educational qualification, caste certificate (if applicable), PwD certificate, etc. must be produced in original.
Failure to produce valid documents will lead to cancellation of candidature.
🎯 Final Merit List & Allotment
- Final selection is based on merit in the Computer Based Examination.
- Skill Test is only qualifying, not used for merit ranking.
- Preference of posts/departments given by the candidate will be considered.
- Once a post is allotted as per merit and preference, no change will be allowed.
