Date of Birth filled by the candidate in the Uttar Pradesh Home Guard online application form and the same recorded in the Matriculation or equivalent/ Birth certificate will be accepted by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board (UPPRPB) for determining the age and no subsequent request for change will be considered or granted. UP Home Guard Recruitment Selection Process |
1. One-Time Registration (OTR)
All applicants must complete the OTR process on the UPPRPB portal. This registration is mandatory and will be used for the Home Guard recruitment and future UPPRPB drives.
2. Notification & Online Application
Once the short notification is issued, the detailed advertisement will include vacancies, district-wise distribution, and eligibility criteria. Application will be entirely online. Vacancies are estimated at approximately 41424 posts across Uttar Pradesh.
3. Eligibility Criteria
- Educational qualification: Minimum pass of Class 10 from a recognised board.
- Age limit: Between 18 and 30 years as on a specified date. Age relaxations apply as per category.
- Residence: The candidate must be a permanent resident of the district for which they apply.
- Disqualifications: Candidates already in Government service, those with criminal proceedings, or with more than one spouse may be disqualified.
4. Written Examination
A written test will be conducted to screen eligible candidates. The exam will include objective-type questions covering general awareness, reasoning, numerical ability, etc. Candidates must clear this stage to move forward.
5. Physical Standard Test (PST) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
After the written test the shortlisted candidates will undergo physical assessment including measurement (height, chest for males) and a run (physical efficiency). Examples of standards (tentative):
- Male: Height about 168 cm (general) and chest 79 cm (unexpanded) and run 4.8 km in approx 28 minutes.
- Female: Height about 152 cm (general) and run 2.4 km in approx 16 minutes.
6. Merit List & Preference Marks
A merit list will be prepared district-wise based on marks from the written test plus any preference marks (such as NCC certificate, disaster friend training, driving licence) as per new enrolment rules. In case of tie the older candidate will be given preference.
7. Document Verification & Medical Examination
Candidates who clear the above stages will be called for document verification (educational certificate, category certificate, domicile etc) and then a medical fitness check-up before final appointment.
8. Final Appointment
Those who successfully pass all stages and meet all eligibility criteria will be enrolled as Home Guards volunteers for the state under UPPRPB.

- The recruitment drive is being conducted after many years, with approx 41424 vacancies.
- For the first time the selection process includes a written exam along with physical tests under a new “Home Guards Enrolment Manual”.
