UKPSC Civil Judge Selection Process

The Uttarakhand Judicial Service Civil Judge Selection Process is conducted by the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) to select eligible candidates for the position of Civil Judge in the state judiciary. The selection process comprises various stages, including;

• Written Exam (Preliminary & Mains)
• Interview
• Document Verification
• Medical Fitness Test

Preliminary Examination: The first stage of the selection process is the preliminary examination. It is an objective type test consisting of multiple-choice questions. The exam tests the candidate’s knowledge of the Indian legal system, Indian Constitution, Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, Civil Procedure Code, and other relevant laws.

Candidates who qualify the preliminary examination will be eligible to appear for the main examination.

Main Examination: The main examination is a descriptive type test consisting of four papers. The papers include the following:

• General Knowledge and Language
• Substantive Law
• Evidence and Procedure
• Judgment Writing

The main examination tests the candidate’s knowledge of the law, understanding of legal procedures, and judgment writing skills.

Interview: Candidates who qualify the main examination will be called for an interview. The interview panel will assess the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and suitability for the position of Civil Judge. The interview may also include questions related to the candidate’s personal life, experiences, and opinions.

Final Selection: The final selection of candidates is based on their performance in the main examination and interview. The UKPSC will release a merit list of candidates who have cleared all the stages of the selection process. The candidates who are selected will be appointed as Civil Judges in the Uttarakhand State Judiciary.
