Assam Police Constable Eligibility Criteria 2025 |
- Constable (UB): H.S. or Class XII passed from Govt. recognized Board or Council.
- Constable (AB): H.S.L.C or Class-X passed from Govt. recognized Board or Council.
- Applicant must be a Citizen of India and Permanent Resident of Assam.
- Candidates must register with a local Employment Exchange in Assam.
- Must speak Assamese or any other State language fluently.

The selection process for Constable Unarmed Branch and Armed Branch in Assam Police is conducted by the State Level Police Recruitment Board. The recruitment is completed in multiple stages and candidates must qualify each stage to move forward. All details below are strictly as per the official notification.
Stage 1: Preliminary Identity Verification and Biometrics
Before appearing in physical tests candidates must undergo identity verification.
- Admit card of PET and PST is checked
- Valid photo identity proof is required
- Biometric data is captured before and after tests
- Biometric verification is done at every stage
Failure in biometric verification leads to rejection.
Stage 2: Physical Efficiency Test PET
The Physical Efficiency Test carries marks and plays a major role in shortlisting candidates for the written examination.

- Constable UB Male and Female: 40 Marks
- Constable AB Male: 60 Marks
- Constable AB Female: 40 Marks
PET Events for Male Candidates
Race
- 3200 meters race
- Marks awarded based on time taken
- Exceeding prescribed time leads to disqualification
Long Jump
- Minimum qualifying jump is mandatory
- Three chances are given
- Best valid jump is considered
Chin Ups
- Applicable only for Constable AB Male
- Minimum chin ups required to qualify
- Marks awarded based on number of chin ups
PET Events for Female Candidates
Race
- 1600 meters race
- Marks awarded based on completion time
Long Jump
- Minimum qualifying jump required
- Three chances allowed
Candidates failing in any PET event are eliminated immediately.
Stage 3: Medical Examination
Candidates qualifying PET must undergo a medical examination.
- General physical and mental fitness is checked
- Eyesight standards are examined
- Candidates must be free from serious diseases
- Temporary disqualification may be given in some cases
Only medically fit candidates are allowed to appear for PST.
Stage 4: Physical Standard Test PST
The Physical Standard Test is qualifying in nature and carries no marks.
- Height measurement
- Chest measurement for male candidates
- Category wise physical standards apply
Candidates not meeting prescribed standards are disqualified.
Stage 5: Document Verification
Document verification is conducted on the same day of PET and PST.
- Original documents are verified
- Self attested photocopies are submitted
- Category and reservation certificates are checked
Failure to produce original documents results in rejection.
Stage 6: Written Examination
Candidates are shortlisted for the written examination based on PET merit.
