Central Railway Apprentice Recruitment Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate should have passed High School/10th or its equivalent (under 10+2 system) with minimum 50% marks & ITI in notified trade.
  • Read the official notification for trade wise eligibility details.

RRC CR Apprentice Selection Process 2023

  • Merit List
  • Document Verification
  • Medical Fitness Test
  • Selection

The selection process will be based on a merit list that includes all candidates who apply in response to the notification. This merit list will be created by considering the percentage of marks in the matriculation exam (with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks) and the marks obtained in the relevant ITI trade, which is the field of apprenticeship they are applying for. The overall ranking on the merit list will depend on the simple average of these matriculation and ITI marks.

To calculate the percentage of matriculation marks, the marks achieved by candidates in all subjects will be taken into account, rather than just specific subjects or groups like the best of five.

For calculating the percentage of ITI marks, the average marks from the consolidated statement of marks across all semesters of the relevant trade or the marks from the Provisional National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT / SCVT will be considered.

For candidates from boards like the Board of Secondary Education Andhra Pradesh or Board of Public Examination, Kerala, where grades are given, the midpoint of the grade range will be used. After determining the midpoints for all attempted subjects, an average will be calculated, treating each subject as if it were out of 100 marks. This approach is chosen due to the absence of a standard method or multiplier for calculating the matriculation average for such boards.

In cases where two candidates have the same marks, the older candidate will be given preference. If the dates of birth are also identical, the candidate who passed the matriculation exam earlier will be considered first.

The final merit list will be created for each cluster or unit, trade, and community, based on the candidate’s percentage of marks, in descending order. The number of slots available will determine the size of the merit list.

Candidates who make it to the final list will need to undergo a verification process for their original documents and also provide a medical certificate as described in the attached annexure.
