Educational Qualifications

• Candidate must have passed Matriculation from the Boards of School Education recognised by Ministry of Education, Government of India.

Musical Experience

• This certificate is to acknowledge the musical experience of individuals in the field of Hindustani or Carnatic Classical music on Wind Instruments. It is mandatory for candidates to obtain a musical experience certificate from any reputable musical institute or organization recognized within the industry.
• For candidates specializing in western notation or western music on Wind Instruments, it is essential to possess a music certificate from a nationally or internationally recognized music institute such as TCL or RSM, KM Music Conservatory, Bangalore School of Music, TSM, GMI, among others.
• Candidates who do not fall into the aforementioned categories must provide certificates of participation or awards received at various musical events to demonstrate their musical experience. These certificates should reflect their active involvement and accomplishments within the music community.

Indian Navy MR Musician Selection Process 2023

Selection of recruits is based on the order of merit on their performance in Preliminary Screening Test and Final Screening Test.

Shortlisting

The shortlisting of candidates for Stage I – Preliminary Screening will primarily rely on the marks obtained in the matriculation examination. Only candidates who possess valid music certificates (Degree, Diploma, Grade, or Certificates of Competitions) will be taken into consideration during the shortlisting process. It is important to note that candidates with grades awarded in their matriculation certificate must convert them into marks using the approved conversion formula established by the respective board.

To ensure transparency and accuracy, candidates must upload a copy of the officially promulgated conversion formula along with their application. Failure to provide the conversion formula will result in the cancellation of their candidature.

Stage I – Preliminary Screening

Candidates who have been shortlisted will receive a call-up letter for Stage I, which includes the following components: Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Music Screening Test and Recruitment Medical Examination. Those who successfully clear the PFT and Preliminary Music Test will proceed to the Medical Examination. The tentative schedule for Stage I is planned for July 2023.

Stage I is a crucial step in the selection process, and successful candidates will have the opportunity to showcase their physical fitness, musical abilities and undergo a medical evaluation for recruitment into the Indian Navy.

Physical Standards

Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk. Physical Fitness Test standard is as follows:-

Final Screening

Candidates who successfully qualify the Stage I – Preliminary Screening, including the Physical Fitness Test and Medical Examination, will proceed to Stage II – Final Screening. The progression to Stage II is contingent upon meeting the required qualifications in the aforementioned tests.

All candidates who have qualified will be called to INS Kunjali, located in Colaba, Mumbai, for the final screening test and selection. This process will be conducted on an All India basis, ensuring equal opportunities for candidates from across the country.

Please note that the tentative schedule for the final screening and selection process is scheduled for September 2023. It is important for qualified candidates to be prepared to attend the proceedings at the specified location during this timeframe.

Merit List

Upon completion of the Final Screening process, a comprehensive merit list will be compiled, including all the candidates who have successfully qualified in all aspects, taking into account the available vacancies. This merit list will serve as an important reference for the selection process.

Final Medical Examination

Final Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be conducted at INS Chilka. Induction of the candidates will be subject to qualifying in Final Medical Examination.
