NICL AO Selection Process 2025 |
1. Preliminary Examination (Phase I) – Only Qualifying
- Objective type test – 100 marks, 60 minutes
- Sections:
- English Language – 30 Questions (30 Marks)
- Reasoning Ability – 35 Questions (35 Marks)
- Quantitative Aptitude – 35 Questions (35 Marks)
- Sectional timing: 20 minutes per section
- Negative marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer
- Candidates 15 times the number of vacancies (approx.) will be shortlisted for Mains
2. Main Examination (Phase II)
For Generalist Officers:
Objective Test (250 Marks, 3 Hours):
- Reasoning – 50 marks
- English Language – 50 marks
- General Awareness – 50 marks
- Computer Knowledge – 50 marks
- Quantitative Aptitude – 50 marks
Descriptive Test (30 Marks, 30 Minutes):
- Essay, Precis and Comprehension in English
For Specialist Officers:
Objective Test (250 Marks, 3 Hours):
- Reasoning – 40 marks
- English Language – 40 marks
- General Awareness – 40 marks
- Computer Knowledge – 40 marks
- Quantitative Aptitude – 40 marks
- Technical & Professional Knowledge – 50 marks (based on specialization)
Descriptive Test – same as Generalist
✅ Note: Descriptive paper will be checked only for those who qualify in the Objective section.
3. Interview
- Conducted for candidates shortlisted based on Mains performance
- Minimum qualifying marks will be set by NICL
Final Selection
- Based on Main Exam (80%) + Interview (20%)
- Merit list will be prepared category-wise
- In case of a tie: Higher Interview marks, then older age, will be given preference.
