AFMS Medical Officer Selection Process 2025 |
📝 Stage 1: Online Application
The first step is to fill out the online application form through the official AFMS recruitment website. Candidates must:
- Upload passport-sized photo and signature
- Provide personal, academic and contact details
- Mention their preference for interview center
After submission, you should take a printout of the application form for future reference.
📄 Stage 2: Document Verification
Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification. You must carry original documents along with self-attested copies. The required documents include:
- MBBS Degree Certificate
- Internship Completion Certificate
- Final Year Marksheet
- MCI/SMC Registration Certificate
- Proof of age (10th class certificate)
- Photo ID proof (Aadhaar/PAN/Driving License)

🎙️ Stage 3: Interview
Candidates who clear document verification will appear for a personal interview conducted by a board of senior AFMS officers. The interview evaluates:

🩺 Stage 4: Medical Examination
Those who qualify the interview will undergo a Medical Fitness Test at a military hospital. Candidates must meet the physical and medical standards set by the Armed Forces. The exam includes:
- Height and weight check
- Vision test
- ENT evaluation
- General physical examination
Candidates declared medically unfit may appeal for a review medical board within the given time.
📢 Final Selection and Merit List
The final merit list is prepared based on:
- Interview performance
- Medical fitness
- Document verification outcome
There is no written test in the AFMS Medical Officer selection process. Selection is based purely on merit and medical fitness.
The final list of selected candidates will be published on the official AFMS website and joining instructions will be sent through email.
📍 Service and Posting
Selected candidates will be granted Short Service Commission (SSC) in the Armed Forces Medical Services. They may be posted anywhere in India including border areas, military hospitals, field units or peace stations.
🔐 Bond and Training
Once selected, candidates must undergo a basic military training course. You’ll be trained in military rules, discipline and field medical duties.
Candidates will be required to sign a bond agreeing to serve for a minimum of 5 years under Short Service Commission.
